An evening reception will honor the branch’s 85 years of commitment to “equity for women and girls”. More details to follow.
Evelyn Murphy to Speak in Lehigh Valley
April 8, 2014, is Equal Pay Day, the symbolic day when women’s earnings catch up to men’s earnings from the year before. Our branch is planning several activities to highlight the inequality of pay for women.
To launch our discussion, we will host a public lecture by Evelyn Murphy, former Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Founder of the Wage Project. Ms. Murphy will speak the evening of Tuesday March 18, 2014 in Prosser Auditorium at Moravian College. Her appearance is funded in large part by a prestigious Arts and Lecture Grant from Moravian College. Please save that date and plan to attend
Interbranch Lunch Set for March 8, 2014
Our inter-branch luncheon will feature speaker Nicola Gutgold, whose topic is empowering women. We will gather at noon at Northampton Country Club. Several branches will present their Gateway to Equity awards. Plan now to attend.
2013 Giving Back Project
Branch Supports Communities in School at Lincoln Elementary School
AAUW-Bethlehem members are supporting our 2013 Giving Back project generously. As of the end of November, 52 of our members donated $2,820 to help with after-school programming, focused on developing leadership in girls, at Lincoln Elementary School, Bethlehem, a school named a “Community School (CS)” in 2006. We hope to surpass the $3,000+ our members donated in 2012. Continue reading
